Good People Everywhere by Lynea Gillen Children's Book Review

Teaching children to recognize the goodness in others seems to be harder and harder in our society.  I don't think it's impossible and I think it begins with teaching them at an early age through example, through our own actions and through things such as reading books.  Books provide such an avenue for the young mind and we as adults are the first ones to expose them to the wonderful world of books.  I read a children's book by Lynea Gillen titled Good People Everywhere to my girls.

The book illustrates how children can be more aware of other people in the world by providing examples along with bright, vivid illustrations.  It helps to show them that they can grow up and be giving people too because there truly are good people everywhere.  I think it's a great way to show children how you can give in other ways and how easy it is to be a thoughtful, caring person.  It also comes with two activities that help children recognize the good people in our family, friends and communities.

When I think of my children or any child for that matter, they are full of magical moments.  It's hard to pin down just one.  After having three children with quite a big age gap, I cannot fully remember a lot from my oldest but I do remember her baby who is almost two.  My two younger ones are ages 5 and 9.  My magical moment came after both of them came down with unexpected chronic conditions.  My youngest almost didn't make it but in spite of her odds, she came through with shining colors although the doctors had no idea why she crashed so hard or how she was able to pull out of it.  After that incident, my two youngest seemed to form such a great bond.  After the hospital, they were very endearing to one another and the love just radiated.  To me, that was magical in itself to see two sisters become best friends.  Four years later, they are still just as close.

Redbox Summer Family Fun & Sweepstakes to Include Chance for a Role on Dino Dan

I want to enjoy the summer but everyone is already having back to school sales taking away from the excitement of summer.  The other day, I had some telephone interviews and it was raining outside.  On top of that, I had to find a way to keep my girls, ages 5 and 9, entertained and quiet.  All of a sudden, the door bell rang and prior to my interview, I ran down and opened the box on the steps and was very happy to show the girls what they just received.  This summer, Redbox is kicking off its "Summer Family Fun" program along with a sweepstakes.  As part of this summer time program, Phase 4 Films has made available eight titles available at your local Redbox location nationwide.

Gloria and Barry, earthworms, live at the bottom of the food chain.  One day when an old disco record turns Barry's life upside down and he decides to start the world's greatest disco band.  Gloria becomes a singing sensation and shows the audience that earthworms can boogie.
• Space Dogs - one of my girls' favorites!  This is an exciting tale based on the true story of Belka and Strelka, two dogs sent to space in 1960.  
• Smitty is a heart warming story starring Peter Fonda, MIra Sorino and Louis Gossett, Jr.  Thirteen year old Ben and his struggling single mother is now facing the ramifications of his bad behavior and is sent to spend the summer with his estranged grandfather.  Jack, his grandfather, gets Ben a dog and between the dog and Gossett, he learns some new life lessons.
• Kiara the Brave takes you to the land of Dreamzone which is a magical and peaceful kingdom. The king is captures and imprisoned by his evil brother and it's up to his daughter to save him.
• My Friend Bernard releases in August and is based on a popular international hit animated series.  Sam, a shy boy, is afraid of almost everything.  One day, a mysterious man provides a magical pendant that provides a polar bear, Bernard, that becomes a solution to all his problems.  Bernard helps him lose all of his fears and enables Sam to face all his fears to include monsters.
• Freddy Frogface centers around ten year old Victor and his friends who have to face a world full of stern grown ups and the town bully, Freddy Frogface.  Watch Victor perform in the circus as it comes to town and what Freddy Frogface does.
• Donkey X is based on a 400 year old Spanish classic tale "Don Quijote de la Mancha and follows Rucio who is the most adventurous, brave donkey of Castile.  Rucio joins Don Quijote on his quest to battle and has to overcome obstacles.

The Impossible Genius Relationship? Check Out The Big Bang Theory

If you reading this and watch The Big Bang Theory, you probably have a bit of experience with mixmatched couples.  Whether it's yourself or someone you know, you probably experienced that moment when you realized that either you or someone else didn't measure up in a relationship.  Often times, it's an intelligent factor and from what I know, if the female is smarter than the man, that can cause all sorts of issues.  At first, it's probably pretty cool for the man but after time, they realize that something is amiss and it usually boils down to a control issue.  For the female, there are all sorts of discontentment issues that follow.  I'm not saying this is true of all relationships where one is smarter than the other because someone usually is.  This is more the extreme where someone might be considered a genius.


On the Big Bang Theory, it's just the case with Penny and Leonard.  Leonard is the big smart, physics genius and who can really compare to someone with that level of genius?   Not only is their relationship complicated but when you throw that in, it's going to be pretty hard.  Even after going on a date, Penny ends up breaking things off with Leonard fearing she isn’t as smart as the physics genius.
