Our Hello Kitty Party

We finally had the girls' Hello Kitty party and even though I didn't get to go to the extent I wanted, it turned out with smiles from them.  The wind here is unreal so I had to move some of it inside and the part I had outside, had to be taken down as quickly as it was put up.  I had an image in my mind how it would turn out but no thanks to the wind, I wasn't able to do it.

This picture was a sweet shop which I took a white bookcase and altered it into my shop.  I used fabric, styrofoam (top part with the Hello Kitty wrap), two covered wrapping paper tubes to hold up the top and a hot glue gun.  I also used both my Silhouette SD Cutter and the Cricut with Hello Kitty cartridge to make the sign along with Elmer's glue adhesives for poster boards.

The table was just an existing table we had along with Hello Kitty plastic plates, cups and hats.

I bought pink and black Sixlets for the candy jar and via Amazon, 

Hello Kitty Marshmallow Pop, 1.48-Ounce Packages (Pack of 24) and PEZ Hello Kitty, 0.58-Ounce Assorted Candy Dispensers (Pack of 12) and Hello Kitty Candy Tin Sours Raspberry.

This was the little set up outside that included cupcakes with handmade picks, popcorn cones with Hello Kitty ribbons and push up pops as seen in the book Push-up Pops.  I used Push Pop Containers 24ct. Clear Plastic Push up Pops to layer brownie and pink icing.  I adorned Hello Kitty charms along the edge with a ribbon.

The pre-party dresses were compliments of Adorable Baby Clothing that have a beautiful assortment of amazing quality clothing for children.  From every day wear to formal wear, the selection is definitely there.  My favorite part outside of the superb customer service is the ease in finding the sizes you want if you decide to dress more than one child in the same outfit.

Aren't computers amazing?  We can do so much with them and the more you know, the more you can do.  I've become pretty good at computers from various Office programs to photo software to even searching for people.  There was a time when I was researching and helping a lawyer on a criminal case where I had to find out who an attorney was for a particular case and find out who they used as experts.  The stories printed online never mentioned the attorney's name rather just the defense so that made it a bit harder.  I followed through with different modes of searching and different search engines until I accomplished the mission.  I made contact, received the answer and had the two lawyers talking.

Ingenious Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler

The Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler is a great product for those of us who recycle and to be honest, it's handy if you don't.  It's a two bin unit that allows you to place trash in one location and recyclables in another or you can use it to sort your recyclables.  Sadly, we generate a lot of trash in our family so I actually use a separate can for regular trash and use the bottom of the Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler for recyclables and the top to sort the hundreds of plastic bags from the stores.  I reuse those and didn't have a handy place to place them so that is how I'm using it.  As you can see from the picture, it's tall and sleek and fits into tiny places.  It's Rubbermaid so it's tough and if you are like me, you have trusted the Rubbermaid brand for years.

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum Review

I am almost obsessed with wrinkles and am not growing older accepting them as much as I should.  I wished I had taken better care of my skin as a young adult until a couple of year's ago.  It's easy to not look forward when you are younger because it's never going to happen to me mentality kicks in.  Now that I'm approaching my 44th birthday, I'm doing all I can to combat wrinkles which is where Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum, 1 Ounce in.  As a bonus with my participation with Klout, I was able to sample this serum and instantly fell in love with it.  I even bought another tube to ensure I have plenty on hand when I use this tube.


Considering the price, it's very reasonable compared to other wrinkle elimination products on the market. It's also more effective than most I have tried.  It goes on smooth and clear and doesn't leave a shiny or sticky feel behind.  Sometimes I prefer to wear no foundation but some anti-wrinkle products leave behind a shine which I don't like.  Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum leaves nothing behind but a clean looking face.  I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to pamper their face and take care of it.


Although not an up close picture, you can somewhat tell that I don't have a ton of wrinkles .. yet!

Heritage History: British Empire Review

History has always been my favorite subject and I remember looking back at how much history was not taught in the school systems I attended.  I can't imagine anyone not enjoying history but I'm sure there are.  I think history, when taught properly, can be enjoyed by anyone.  So many of life's great stories, books and movies center around historical facts.  Much of our history comes from England and being that I'm half British, I particularly enjoy British history.  This is where Heritage History comes in.  They make old-fashioned history books, written for the younger ones, easily available.  They provide more of a story book learning approach which to me, is more exciting and captivating.  For this review, I was able to receive Heritage History's British Empire.


The British Empire collection focuses on 18th and 19th century world history, with a special emphasis on colonial development. Stories that highlight scientific discovery, exploration, invention and industry are featured, along with those that cover regional histories of Ireland, Canada, British Africa, India, and East Asia. 


When you pop in the CD, it has a very nice, detailed list of all options:

The books are categorized by:

• Regional History
• Military History
• Biography
• Legends
• Adapted Literature
• Historical Fiction

Now, what is extra nice about this CD, it provides the opportunity to read via PDFs or to download to some readers such as a Kindle which I have.  I can tell you that the first PDF I opened was about Queen Victoria who I've been fascinated by.  Being able to read an older book was sheer pleasure to me because I almost feel the older books are more true to form.  I love the magnitude of book titles offered and the fact that as my children grow, this curriculum will meet their needs based on their maturity and level of understanding.


The curriculum guides are brilliant in that they provide a user guide in starting out and other guides to further your confidence in teaching and guiding your children.  From topics such as Britain Outline to British Empire Battles to Weekly Reader Outline, there are so many tools and resources to give your child an abundance of worthwhile knowledge that is captivating yet educational.  I believe when children read, they pick up wonderful skills such as an increase in vocabulary, an understanding of grammar and much more.  It's an all around educational tool to teach about history and more.


I definitely am a fan of Heritage History's British Empire and will be purchasing other editions.

Mamavation Monday

It's been awhile since I posted and I know I shouldn't go that long because I really enjoy the encouragement from all the wonderful women of Mamavation.  I've had my oldest daughter visiting and she's been my strength and sometimes my pitfall on continuing to get healthy.  Sometimes I forget it's about getting healthier versus being deprived of those processed filled foods even though they sure do taste great.  I'm still down my 32 pounds I lost since last June and still have plenty of toning to do.  I was running three miles a day but after I had a terrible cold that lasted three weeks, I find it's hard to get back there.  I'm trying to run two and walk one along with biking and counting calories.


I'm also trying to get more active by taking the girls out.  We are venturing out on vacation trips to utilize the time we have together.  This picture was taken among the most beautiful white sand dunes I have ever seen.  I think the girls had more exercising than I but I did try to run around a bit to use up some calories.


All in all, I'm still continuing my journey and although I've had some hiccups, I jump back up and try, try again!
