I received this huge box of Newman's Own and can't wait to share it with you. This is not the same as Newman's products as this a company started by the infamous Paul Newman's daughter, Nell. I saw her on Martha Stewart talking about her business, why organic products are important to her and the special memories she had for her father, Paul Newman. It was a touching show because I still remember seeing it. Paul Newman is a legend and when he passed, I was saddened in the lack of coverage on his death. He was an actor I grew up with and watched him grow old like my father has. He was beloved by so many and I admired him for his donation of proceeds from Newman's to charity. He was all inspiring and now his daughter continues in his foot steps.
So far, I've tried the Caramel Cups, the Chocolate ABC Cookies, Raisins and the Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies and all I can say is YUMMY! Some might expect an organic product to not taste as good but all these products are just fantastic. I was very surprised myself at how good they are. Rich in flavor and nothing is missing. My girls loved the ABC cookies as well.

A Jane Austen Love
I'm an avid Jane Austen fan and I'm deviating a bit from what I normally write about and in fact, I have been a bit missing in action for awhile now. I struggle with finishing my novel, expanding our non-profit and so much more. I truly believe I have some form of attention deficit or I just merely want to do it all. I had a conversation with my father not too long ago about how he has never truly been excellent at one thing because he dabbled in so many others things and I found myself nodding in agreement with myself. I'm a causality of my father but that is okay because at least I can experience a lot. So I deviated from my topic at hand.
I've watched too many time then I care to admit Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion and Becoming Jane. I somehow think I'm missing one but for the life of me I cannot recall it and I don't feel like opening a new window on my slow laptop. I know Gweneth Paltrow made a version of it. So Becoming Jane, although much was assumed, presumed or otherwise just made up, it a look into Jane's life with what was presumed to be the love of her life that got away. Tom Lefroy made an equal match for her and the story of Becoming Jane is a story that leaves you sad for Jane. If you know much about Jane Austen, you know she died fairly young. Her stories that I noted above all evolve around love and they are passionate, nearly impossible love that endures and has a happy ending. Hence, one scene from Becoming Jane where she is talking to Cassandra after the death of Robert and tells her that her story is of two sisters who go through tragic situations but end up in love.
Back to the point of this post. Jane wrote of such depth and of such love that it would seem impossible for her to not have experienced it herself. There is speculation on what she actually did versus did not do but unfortunately, Cassandra destroyed many of Jane's correspondences out of respect so not a lot is known. To watch the movies, you see the love and the anguish they produce. Pride and Prejudice is a perfect example of love that was not suppose to be due to one's station in life but you cannot help but fall for Mr. Darcy and relish in their love and the passionate fire they had for one another. Or in Persuasion, as you see the continued regret Ann carries for giving up her one true love and all she has to do to find it again. Mansfield Park is no different. All stories of forbidden love or love blocked yet all persevered. It leaves you longing for the intensity or just wondering how she could have made that up. Nonetheless, her stories continue to endure the changes of time but are timely in forbidden love and the mix of family complications. Each time I watch Becoming Jane, I want to change the story so her and Lefroy can go off and live happily ever after.

Tropicana Pure Premium 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice #TropFloridaOJ Sweepstakes
There is something magical about Florida and there are two thoughts that come to mind when I hear Florida: Disney and orange juice. For me, it's not just any juice but Tropicana Pure Premium 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice. I have always been a fan of Tropicana especially when I was sick with a cold, I would ask only for Tropicana. It's the most freshest tasting orange juice in my opinion.
I've been to Florida many times and love it. I have fond memories of every time I've been there and I can still remember the first time I saw an orange tree. Growing up in Indiana doesn't afford you the opportunity to see an orange tree and given that I led a sheltered life, it was really cool to see it. Although the first time I saw an orange tree in Florida wasn't associated with my most favorite visit, it does tie in with my memories.
Two year's ago, I took all three of my girls to Florida. We stayed in a rental house and went to Disney. We happened to go on a Sunday and it was during Star Wars weekends so we were in heaven. All three of my girls are Star Wars fans so this was the ultimate trip. After we had our fill of Disney, we did some exploration of the surrounding areas within Florida. The girls were equally tickled with the orange trees as we had a grove of them near the rental house. I didn't know this but Tropicana is the single largest buyer of Florida fruit and uses groves in 22 different counties across Florida. One of the things we also did when we arrived was to shop for groceries as it's so much more convenient to have your own food when you are relaxing.
If you are heading out to Florida this year, check out the surroundings if you are driving around. Did you know that oranges have been grown in Florida since the 1560's? I had no idea! Tropicana's history even dates back to the 1960's with one of their grower relationships. It's nice to hear how much Tropicana remains a part of our history today.
Tropicana has a sweepstakes right now called Tropicana's Perfect Pick. All you have to do is go to their Facebook page (click link) and "like" the page and start picking to see if you have won a trip to Sarasota or a year's supply of orange juice (12 coupons)! You can enter once a day and you get fun little tid bits of information. Might as well learn all you can before you embark on that next trip as it's fun to play did you know with your little ones.
I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Tropicana blogging program, to earn My SocialMoms Rewards Points. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. To read more posts on this topic, click here.
Home in the Cave by Janet Halfmann Children's Book Review
Another great educational and entertaining book by Janet Halfmann is Home in the Cave. I really like all the books I have read to date from Ms. Halfmann who has the ability to take typically perceived non-adorable characters such as snakes and bats and turns them into great stories to teach. The stories all have a teaching component about the particular subject but it also has an entertaining aspect such as learning why bat shouldn't be afraid to leave his home in the cave.
Baby bat is so comfortable with his mom in the safety of the cave since it's all he has ever known. He hears the stories told by other baby bats and becomes increasingly frightened at the prospects of ever leaving. In an attempt to not disappoint his mom, he practices his flying ability and ends up meeting an unexpected partner who will teach him the importance of his existence with the others in the cave. Baby bat soon understands his role and changes his mind about growing up and leaving the cave. The story might also appeal to younger children first leaving for school given their fear of leaving their "cave" as well. I found it entertaining with innocent little baby bat and the inclusion of bits of scientific information.
The back section includes something very familiar with Ms. Halfmann's other stories which is a creative minds extra. Teachers, parents and those who homeschool will find it full of a wealth of information that surpasses it as only an entertaining story. From life in a cave to rock formations to bats, the children will most likely enjoy the extra sections at the back.
Ms. Halfmann has many children's books to her name that will provide entertainment and great topics to teach. Shennen Bersani, award-winning children's book illustrator, provided the vivid and detailed illustrations. I recommend the 32 page Home in the Cave which can be purchased at Sylvan Dell Publishing.

Saving Money with CouponCodes4U
I love to shop online mostly because it's convenient and I can get just about anything I want with a few clicks of the mouse and never leaving my house. When I do shop, I learned a long time ago to never hit the purchase button until I checked for any online coupons or special deals. If you do what I do, you will notice that there are many, many sites out there with coupon codes just by searching on Google. Some coupons are valid and others tend to not be valid often and it's frustrating when you think you found a great coupon code and it ends up being expired. CouponCodes4U is stock full of coupon codes and they are indexed if you choose not to use the search function.
I will admit that I had never used CouponCodes4u before because I hadn't heard of them. I wanted to try them out so I tried a few different searches based on items I frequently purchase online. I'm a big consumer of vitamins and credit them with keeping us healthy since November 2010. The girls and I take vitamins daily which can add up to a lot of money monthly. CouponCodes4U even has Puritans Pride Coupon Codes to help save more money with specials such as up to 40% off and free shipping on orders over $50. I just checked out some of the prices and I'm definitely over paying for some of the vitamins I take. In addition to vitamins, I also am adamant about my skin and have tried many products over the years to try to keep healthy skin. If you are a LovelySkin.com shopper, you will be happy to know there are even LovelySkin.com Coupon Codes. If you haven't shopped there, you might be surprised at the sheer number of named brand beauty products available.
CouponCodes4U really has a lot to offer if you want to save money and you can sign up for free to stay abreast of the latest news and deals. Some of their coupons are even exclusives so you definitely want to sign up so you don't miss out. Did I mention they even have printable coupons? I really like how the site is set up with a variety of ways to search for the best deals such as categories, exclusives, top 50, new and more. Since Easter is coming upon us quickly, they reminded me I better start shopping with the special Easter section as well.
It's a one stop shop for saving money. I signed up and am going to follow them on Facebook and Twitter so I don't miss out on anything.

Children’s Advil® Don’t Let the Flu Get You Blue
I used to be one of those parents who felt immediate fear at the first sign of a fever. When my youngest one became sick, she would automatically vomit any type of liquid medicine so with her, I was a bit more fearful as I would have to take her to the hospital if her fever didn't break or became too high since I had no remedy for her. My two older children had no problems with fever reducers and finally, my youngest can stand liquid medicine so I no longer have to worry. I think it was a year ago when I made the switch to Children's Advil® from other brands. I trusted Advil®'s brand and quality and to this day, I still purchase it. My children don't get many fevers luckily but my eight year old who suffers from epilepsy and migraines, takes Children's Advil® for headaches and it usually works unless it's a full blown migraine.
When I was provided the opportunity to post about Children's Advil®, I had no problems as I had posted in the past because I believe in the brand. Although this time, I did receive a gift pack, it didn't influence my decision to post because as I stated, I have posted without compensation in the past. When I believe in a product, I like to blog about it. When I received the information on the surveys, I was surprised that nearly a quarter of parents (23%) admit to giving their children and over-the-counter medication at a lower dose to treat fevers which was really surprising to me. If you want to read more about the surveys along with some tips, just scroll down.
I can tell you that the girls were HAPPY to see this come in the mail! My little one grabbed the teddy bear and wasn't letting it go. Of course she has to share but they just love this little pack of fun! The pop cycle mold will come in handy since those are always nice to help when a child is feeling bad and doesn't want to drink. It was an amazing pack and I particularly loved the variety of Children's Advil I received even though I just stocked up on some. I will be sure to use it!
According to these two new national surveys of parents and pediatricians from the makers of Children’s Advil®, more than half of all parents report feeling anxious, fearful or helpless when their child comes down with a fever so I know I wasn't alone. This is nothing new to the vast majority of pediatricians (94 percent) who believe that parents need more fever management education.
In an effort to ease parents’ anxiety and minimize risks, Children’s Advil® has partnered with nationally recognized pediatrician, Alanna Levine, M.D., to introduce a fever relief program this cold and flu season to educate parents on common misperceptions and best practices when it comes to treating a child’s fever.
Fever Relief Tips
To help better prepare for fevers during cold and flu season, Dr. Alanna Levine and the makers of Children’s Advil® recommend the following tips to parents:
- Stay Cool: Remember that most fevers are in fact indicators that the body is fighting an underlying illness.
- Be Prepared: Start the season by talking to a pediatrician about proper fever management. Also, check the medicine cabinet to ensure that all medications have not expired or been recalled.
- Watch for Serious Signs: Generally, it’s time to call a pediatrician:
· if your child is less than three months old and has a fever of 100 degrees or higher;
· if the fever is over 103 degrees, no matter what the child’s age;
· if the fever lasts more than three days;
· if your child has a fever and looks and acts very sick;
· if you are concerned regarding your child’s health.
- Long Lasting Relief: When choosing a fever medication, be sure to consider how long the medication will last. Children’s Advil®®, which contains ibuprofen, provides up to 8-hours of relief with one dose.
Disclosure: Thank you to Children’s Advil® for providing free product samples, the survey information, and gift pack.
Lucky YOU - - - Three Tips to Create a Lucky Life All Year Round
I received this e-mail today and liked it so I wanted to share:
Lucky YOU - - - Three Tips to Create a Lucky Life All Year Round
Seed your day by getting lucky first thing in the morning! Even if you’re traditionally not a morning person (wink) there are some things that anyone can do to start the day off from a place of anticipation, expectation, gratitude and joy. The very first thing you see the very first time you open your eyes in the morning will influence and impact, not only that particular day but potentially your entire life. If the first thing you spy as you open your eyes is a desk full or unfinished business or exercise equipment (a ‘no – no’ in the bedroom anyway!) with the dry cleaning hanging on it or an open bottle of Vick’s NyQuil from the cold you had a week ago, well, imagine how these images impact your experience. On the other hand if you have a clean and clutter free sleeping space with a beautiful comforter keeping you cozy and warm and some images or artwork of beauty and possibly even some soft music playing in the background, well, then you might feel fully present as you express “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.” Beginning your day in a state of present of gratitude also begins your day with grace. And don’t forget that ages-old legend and lore says that if you get out of bed by climbing over the foot of it, you’ll have outstanding luck all the day long.www.facebook.com/EllenWhitehurst
Now, speaking of expectation, recent scientific research done on the difference between lucky and unlucky people shows that lucky people’s expectations, their dreams, goals, hopes and ambitions often become a reality because of one fundamental difference in how lucky people think. Simply put lucky people have positive expectations that then motivate them to take control of their lives. They will actually attempt to achieve whatever they want from life no matter the likelihood of being successful. This internal motivation prompts lucky people to persist even in the face of challenge, obstacle or adversity. Lucky people define at least five goals for themselves on a regular basis by writing them down and looking at them often. And, then, they take (at least!) one proactive step each day towards reaching those same goals. They reach out or join in or even simply do a positive meditative visualization of what they will FEEL like when their goal is reached. Lucky people expect success. And, so, they often achieve it.
Invariably and, again, according to scientific studies, lucky people are found to follow their instincts, intuition and plain old gut hunches much, MUCH more than those who consider themselves to be unlucky. The lucky bunch do different things in order to enhance their intuition and hone their instincts such as investing time and energy in some formal form of meditation or simply sitting quietly and clearing their mind and focusing on the first thoughts that come to that same place after asking an appropriate question. Creating a sense of stillness in order to get in touch with intuitive inspiration is a hallmark of lucky people and can add immeasurably to a state of clarity and calm as well. Go ahead, ask any harried mom how lucky they are when they can find a personal peace as well as some clarity and calm. See? Lucky.
These three tips are applicable to anyone at any time and in any place. Exercised with regularity and belief they can help anyone to create a luckier life filled with health, happiness, love and prosperity.
Hello Kitty Party in the Works
I've been spending the last month or so planning the girls' Hello Kitty party. I have three to plan for as each girl wants a Hello Kitty party even though one of those girls is a bit older than a kid. I have the dresses compliments of Adorable Baby Clothing and they are just gorgeous. They will also serve for Easter too because they are just too pretty to not see more often.
Some of you have seen my parties of the past and know that birthdays are very special to me. The hard part about the first party is it's in the middle of a move. The girls and I are going to be moving so I have to figure out how/where to have the party. I decided to not let that stop me from at least preparing for it. I have a variety of invitations that I have made so far but I am still playing and trying to figure out which I like best.
Once I finish deciding what the exact color themes will be, I'll move forward. I will also make cake pops, cookies, Push-Up Pops and more. I have activities ranging from making Hello Kitty sunglasses to Hello Kitty picture frames for the kids to make.
More to come!

The Difference Quality Makes in Children's Clothing
If you are a regular to my blog, you know how much I adore the clothing at www.adorablebabyclothing.com. I spent too many frustrated hours rummaging through rack after racking trying to find identical, good quality dresses to turn into heirlooms. I always have to have the perfect dress and when I had to find sizes that were separated by four years, it became an endless chore that left me defeated.
All that changed when I discovered Adorable Baby Clothing because not only do they have beautiful children's clothing but they are of such amazing quality that you have to see in person to truly appreciate it. Their sizing details are just click, click and click (in my case three because I purchase for my two younger daughters and my grand baby). The sizes generally range from infant to a tween/tween (size 12).
My girls want to have Hello Kitty parties this year and I given that I go the extra yard for birthdays, I wanted to go with a classic dress mostly because I didn't find anything Hello Kittyish that wow'd me. I received the three dressed today and once again was amazed. The funny thing about the dresses is they arrive flatted but they fluff out with ease and retain their beautiful shapes. You may be hesitant to spend $40 or more dollars on a dress but I can vouch as a repeat customer that these dresses are well worth the cost. They are not made poorly and to date, all the one's I have purchased were made in the US. They are layered which gives them their fullness that would also cost more if you tried to get this look with a single layer dressed.
Here is a picture of the layers:
This particular dress is even more beautiful in person and the sash can be interchanged as well as the flower to go along with any theme. The color of the dress taken in the pictures below are more true to the color of the dress than the pictures above. At the end of the day, I learned early that I could purchase a dress at a lesser price and it would probably hold up for a bit but with all the dresses I have purchased over the years, they look just as good as they did when I first purchased them and some have survived a couple of moves. In my opinion, they are well worth the cost and the owner provided exceptional customer service.

Decisions ... Decisions
I've been contemplating for some time giving up my blog. I lost the wind in my sails to speak and am not sure if I'm just going through a temporary burned out period or if I'm ready to move forward on other projects. I haven't been devoting the time to it as I should and I definitely have not been active in seeking out new giveaways. I can honestly say that the best part of having a review and giveaway blog is sending the e-mails alerting someone they won. What is particularly moving is the every now and then, genuine appreciative e-mail of gratitude you get in return.
A year or so ago, one such reader thanked me for winning and explained how timely the win was given their personal situation. Her story moved me so much that I sent her a gift card to Walmart just because. This is the one thing that makes it so rewarding in having a blog coupled with the wonderful folks I have met through my blogging experiences.

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski comes Disney/Bruckheimer Films' THE LONE RANGER. Tonto (Johnny Depp), a spirit warrior on a personal quest, joins forces in a fight for justice with John Reid (Armie Hammer), a lawman who has become a masked avenger.
That is one film I can't wait to see!
Easter Photography Ideas
If you are planning on having Easter pictures taken this year and need some inspiration, we have some ideas for you. Of course, it starts with picking the prettiest outfits and featured above are three beautiful fuchsia embroidered tulle dresses from Adorable Baby Clothing. The sizes range from 6-12 months all the way to 12 in girls. They are heirloom quality dresses that can be passed down to future generations given the quality.
For the shot above, I simply went to a local covered bridge and used my own yard for the actual Easter shots. The covered bridge and creek made for a beautiful backdrop.
Some other ideas include:
Flower Garden: If you are in a warm climate, you might be able to take advantage of all the flowers blooming and the natural scenic beauty of a local park or garden.
Flower Petals or Fake Flowers: I have used this before as a way to enhance the scenery fairly inexpensive by adding some pretty flower petals on the ground to add that hint of color. You can purchase them at your local craft store along with fake flowers if you want to further enhance the background.
Landscaped Feature: Even if you don't have a garden, there are other creative features such as brick wall or a fence that can make a beautiful backdrop. Whether you add some string lighting or greenery, it can prove to be a great background for some memorable pictures.
Easter Baskets, Eggs and Other Props: Just adding some Easter baskets, colored eggs, stuffed animals can be a great way to enhance the photo but you don't want to add too many or make it look too fabricated. A little goes a long way sometimes!
Hats, Gloves, and Dresses: Remember those old time photographs of the little ones wearing hats and gloves? They make delightful props even today! Add some to change up your photos and you might be surprised at how much of a difference it will make in your picture.
Taking the picture perfect photograph doesn't really take a lot of expense but when you let your creativity in, the subject and the garment can make a photograph go from pretty to beautiful in just a few small steps.
