I had the opportunity to review the Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips and although I posted on the before picture and my thoughts on the process, I'm providing an update comparison and ONE lucky reader will receive their own box.  I love Crest products and it's all that is in my cabinet.  I have tried many brands but love the Crest line.  I've also tried the different varieties of Crest Whitening Strips in the past due to their effectiveness.

As part of my participation with One2One Network, I was able to receive a complimentary box of Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips for the purposes of this review to include this before and after comparison.  To read the before post, please click on my before Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips review.

Here is my comparison:

My Review:

  • The box comes with four treatments so that makes the cost very reasonable.
  • Since you have to wear them for two hours, the strips are made differently from the other ones I've tried.  They affixed the same way but they were stayed in place and didn't sleep easily.  The grip was stronger which was very nice not having to worry about moving my tongue the wrong way or talking too much.  I actually thought they were easier to place on my teeth since the strips were a bit thicker.  They still felt natural and although my speech was temporarily affected, I found it better to not talk too much.
  • I experienced no discomfort and at the end of the two hours, I removed the strips very easily.
  • After only two hours, I saw an improvement and although my picture may not fully show it, my teeth looked whiter and I loved the results.  I will definitely use them again.

KB Teachers: Great Site for Teaching

In my pursuit of engaging my girls with my attempts at homeschooling, I'm up for websites that will provide educational opportunities and/or fun for my girls.  With fall upon us, I was looking for some activities and found these printables at KB Teachers.

Thumbnail image of an autumn writing activity - A is for...

These are going to be great for my four year old.  There are so many resources available ranging from math to science to reading and much more.  I had never heard of KB Teachers until I saw a tweet and cannot wait to make this a routine stop for some additional learning activities.

First Year at Homeschooling Using the Robinson Curriculum

We made the move again.  In my eight year old's short little life, she has went from Indiana to New Jersey back to Indiana to Hawaii to Georgia and now we reside in Texas.  We are military and that is the life of what is so charmingly deemed a military brat. I'm sure it's purely an endearing adjective because all military children I've met seem to be pretty good kids.  Not only does being in the military present it's challenges to children with the endless number of moves adapting to new schools, new culture and new friends, but it's also just plain difficult at times especially when you have children with chronic medical conditions.  Of course that is not a cop out for taking them out of the school systems rather it just might be easier on them.

Tuesday was the first day of home schooling my eight year old while making attempts at educating my four year old at the same time.  I perused through many blogger sites trying to find the ideal curriculum as we just don't have the money to pay a monthly fee to one of those online schools.  I know there is one free site available here but I opted to try it on my own.  I chose the Robinson Curriculum.  It's cost effective and versatile.  It was created by a family who home schooled their children and each of the five children are successful in their pursuits of higher education.  Their mother passed away suddenly and science based dad stepped in and perfected the curriculum.  It's based on three fundamental learning subjects:  reading, writing and arithmetic.

The curriculum from the reading and writing perspective is secured from hundreds of old books in print that perform the basis for so much.  The notion of reading and writing provides the cornerstones for other subjects is spot on to me.  The math component is by Saxon.  Her Georgia school must have been high caliber or Saxon is behind because she won't learn anything until the second workbook is used.  However, the concepts are good reviews for her as her neurologist stated she has a listening disability so repeating the knowledge will only help to reinforce it.  I also chose this curriculum because it's based on the old school philosophy and from what I've seen of my father and prior generations are an abundance of men who barely graduated from high school to move forward with remarkable inventions, abilities and careers.

I'm only touching on a few basics of the Robinson Curriculum and some might feel my thought process is flawed by it's what I'm going with for my first year.  Extra curricular activities will be forthcoming along with subjects such as art and history but for now, I want to focus on getting them acclimated to a different learning environment as me, the teacher and them, the pupils.

Draw Plus Math Book by Freddie Levin Review: A Must Have

If you have an artist in the family who may need a bit more math exercise or maybe they just love math and art, they will love this book.  Draw Plus Math is this great paperback, inexpensive book for ages 4-8 that makes math fun by enhancing the basics of addition, subtraction, sets or groups, shapes, patterns and much more into a creative way to make it fun.  Yesterday was my first day of home schooling for the first time and I was nervous.  I used my curriculum I purchased through the day but then I picked up my copy of Draw Plus Math as I have to admit, I was terribly late in providing my thoughts due to my daughters participation and eventual win in last month's Pepsi Refresh project for her non-profit so I do apologize.

The book has clever problems in introducing the basic math problems into creating works of art by your little ones.  I have a four and an eight year old and this book was a welcome treat for them.  They didn't know it at first as they grumbled a bit as they saw me bring out yet another book until I told them to grab some paper, erasers, pencils, colored pencils and crayons then their eyes lit up.  The book is broken down into lessons that cover the different basics of math such as counting, identifying colors, shapes, groups and more to allow the children to get the most of out of each lesson.

Lesson Two Sample

Lesson one was counting and drawing fish that eventually became a fish tank which they had a lot of fun drawing.  Lesson two focused on odd numbers so drawing and creating this interesting looking creature was fun.  Not only did they have fun drawing him but naming his was just as fun.  Here is my four year old's picture of the creature:

The 20 lessons are of perfect length which do not tire the children and still captures their attention.  We completed two lessons yesterday and I plan on doing one to two more for the art component and the math aspect especially for my four year old.  It's even better for those of us that have two children in the age range to complete these at the same time.  We had many laughs while completing the two exercises and they didn't even realize they were learning which is a huge bonus.

I recommend Draw Plus Math to any family with the appropriate age range.  I know my now four year old would have still tried to participate a year ago.  It's fun, it's educational and it's a good family time event as well on those Friday nights in place of a game.

60 Minute Shakespeare by Cass Foster Review

Love Shakespeare but don't have the time?  Ever wanted to read it but couldn't find yourself spending hours indulging in the many pages that make up a Shakespeare masterpiece?  Search no more as you can now join what others have found in 50 US states, all of Canada's provinces and 45 countries.  The easiest way to read one of six of Shakespeare's novels is 60 Minute Shakespeare.  Professor Cass Foster provides these wonderful condensed versions without changing the language or making them into something new and modern which is the biggest plus next to easier to read.

Can't get into that old English language?  Professor Cass has that covered too with helpful footnotes on nearly all pages to help aid the reader with certain words and phrases.  Each booklet is approximately 70 pages long making it a great weekend goal to complete.  They are also inexpensive at only $8.99 a copy.

This is an excellent series to help you get through Shakespeare while not losing out on the educational value.  I would recommend this for anyone of reading age that has an interest in literature especially the great classics.

Fall is coming and with that, comes new fall fashions!  For me, it feels like a new wardrobe since I get to bring out the fall and winter fashions but I still love to shop as who doesn't want to have some new clothes. Have you heard of great fashion designers such as Michael Kors?  Kors, who branched out on his own in 1981, launched an accessories line in 2001.  This great line can be yours with Michael Kors Flats, Michael Kors Watches and Michael Kors Handbags all at the Shopbop sale!  Finding bargains is always fun especially when it comes to designer clothings and accessories which Shopbop has.

Not familiar with Shopbop?  They have shopping and accessories set up in a great way that you can search by designer, what's new, clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, bags, boutiques and sales.  It really makes the shopping experience much better when you can easily look for what you want.  I also like the LookBooks because they give you an idea of the latest fashion, a designer spotlight and great picks.  Once you register, you can set up your favorite designers, items you love and a wish list.  It's a fantastic set up for the fashionistas.

Here are some of my hearted items from Michael Kors:

Anytime I want to go back and look at them, I can since I'm registered.  I think it's a really cool feature of the site and since you can save your favorite designer, you can quickly find out what Shopbop has new from him/her.

Now, the fun part has come where I get to provide one reader with a $100 Gift Card compliments of Shopbop!  I'm envious as I didn't get one but you do!

Mamavation Monday: Where Did the Week Go?

MamavationI'm sitting on my recumbent bike riding as I type and I know I would get a better effect if I wasn't trying to do both but I figured I might as well try to get some physical activity in while I type and especially a Mamavation post!  It's been a busy week since the last time I posted as my eight year old, with an amazing online support of way too many people to note, helped her win $25,000 for her non-profit helping other children who have epilepsy like herself.  That was triumphant and tomorrow starts our first day of home schooling so that shall be interesting.

It's another week another week of excuses because if you ask, I can give you one for every reason as to why I'm still singing the same ol' song for not losing more weight.  Now I have a new goal and that is my oldest is coming back home for a month or so with her baby next month so I want to get in shape by then.  I've kept off the 13 pounds that I lost since May so I have a bit more I want to lose to be happy.  I know the health factor is critical and I know that I can still lose weight if I ate healthier and counted calories but I'm just one of those people who need an immediate response so here I go again on the Dukan Diet.  I have gained back three from the original 16 so I'm still happy with the results.

It's getting cooler here and without the pool heater working, the pool is just too cold to be motivated into exercising there so it's back to the bike and with homeschooling, I plan on using the Wii for additional opportunity for movement.

All in all, not too bad but it could be better.  Now that one area of my life is calming down, I can re-focus on health and it's one of the planned courses for the girls which is health.

Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips Before Review

Ever have one of those moments where you want your teeth white for a special event or outing?  My dad was just talking about how everyone on television has perfect white teeth and how expensive it must be.  One easy way to whiten and less expensive is to use the Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips as I did.  I love Crest products and it's all that is in my cabinet.  I have tried many brands but love the Crest line.  I've also tried the different varieties of Crest Whitening Strips in the past due to their effectiveness.

As part of my participation with One2One Network, I was able to receive a complimentary box of Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips for the purposes of this review.   With a recent move across country, settling in to a new house, dealing with chronic medical conditions with two of my children along with many other things, my teeth were a bit neglected so it was ideal to give them a boost.  My daughter also won a $25000 grant so I needed to be prepared for any possible media contacts.

Here is my before picture:

Those are my Invisalyn brace anchors showing.

The box comes with four treatments so that makes the cost very reasonable.  Since you have to wear them for two hours, the strips are made differently from the other ones I've tried.  They affixed the same way but they were stayed in place and didn't sleep easily.  The grip was stronger which was very nice not having to worry about moving my tongue the wrong way or talking too much.  I experienced no discomfort and at the end of the two hours, I removed the strips very easily and ... you will have to wait for the results!

The Big Bang Theory: Season 4 on DVD/Blu-Ray

A product thumbnail of The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Fourth SeasonThe guys on 'The Big Bang Theory' have a very fun and playful work dynamic, often joking around with each other and playing games.  Because they work at CalTech, most of their jokes revolve around astrophysics and Wolowitz's lack of a PhD!  I used to work at a pharmaceutical company and thanks to great co-conspirators, we had some great fun!   We used to cube decorate for birthdays in silly themes like Powder Puff Girls for this one guy or Barney the Dinosaur.  We did other practical jokes and it was always so much fun to have that closeness with your colleagues and to provide so much laughter to others.  It became the norm for everyone to expect us to be involved with something at any point.

I definitely can relate to the fun they have on The Big Bang Theory and it makes me miss work just a little bit but only for my old colleagues!  Have you ever worked in a place where everyone mostly got along and had great fun?  It definitely made a difference!
