Embracing a Healthy Family: Mamavation - Week Five

Mamavation - Week Five

Today was weigh in day is for my family and I.  I started a weight loss challenge with my family trying to motivate them into getting healthier.  It was definitely inspired by Mamavation.  It started January 1st and I went up and down but once April 8th hit, I became serious along with my oldest.  Since April 8th, I've lost 16 pounds with watching what I ate and exercising.  My daughter lost 13 pounds  Combined in my family, we lost 50 pounds since January 1st.  This week's Mamavation Monday is about transformation and this is definitely what I'm seeing with 16 pounds lost.  My face is thinning, I dropped a size and I feel so much more confident and happier.  It's definitely the beginning to my overall transformation of being healthy for a long time.

With two major health concerns I'm facing that I keep putting off, I know that if I take care of myself from a healthy eating perspective, it might offset the outcome of the other two conditions.  I am so very proud of my eight year old who is opting for water instead of soda and apple slices versus french fries.  She's getting it and being an epileptic, the more I can influence healthier habits, she might offset a seizure.  My youngest, three, still has a way to go but my oldest is there.  I know this is all attributed to myself and I can put it also on the first time I joined Mamavation and again, no.  It's great to have the support network and it's therapeutic to write in a "journal" weekly.

So this is the end of week five and I'm looking forward to seeing what the week has in store as I try to pick up the level of exercising and watching what I eat.  My husband returned from Kuwait today and we're about to embark on a week vacation to Disney and then a cross country trip to Texas for his new orders.  What better way to continue the year?

Happy Monday, Mamavation Moms!

This week's blogging carnival is:

How do you reward yourself after you have worked hard towards a goal?  Do you have any pampering rewards thought out for future goals?

Unfortunately, I'm still not there with choosing healthy rewards as I ate two pieces of pizza for my reward of 16 pounds and two small pieces of chocolate.  I should have opted for a manicure, facial, clothing or something healthier but I know I will get there.  I still have a little way to go and my reward is waiting for me in the form of two bathing suits that I'll be able to wear at our new house that has a pool.  As I continue, I have been pampering my face as it all is part of being healthy.  I gravitate towards products that are good for my skin and body and avoid toxic ingredients such as what Tilvee has.

I've not tried Tilvee but after looking at the website, I'm definitely interested in learning more and trying out their products.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the Mamavation Blogging Carnival for a chance to win a Eco Ethical Skincare Basket from Tilvee.

Influencing your kids is the best feeling of all, isn't it? Because it's not something you're fighting with them about, it's something they actually want to do! I have four little ones, so I can relate to how great it feels to influence them, especially in fitness and diet. Vegetables are a big thing in our house, and it really is a great feeling to hear them choose apples or carrots over french fries and ketchup, almost as great as it is to see the weight fall off! In the end, I think we all are doing this for the same reason, to give our kids a legacy to follow and not see them struggle with the same battles we struggle with. I hope you have a great week!! :)

Thanks, Mamavation Ladies! It's a constant struggle but through the time, I'm making strides with the habit issues I suffer from with the cause of my yo-yo'ing weight gain. Getting the family involved definitely helps! x0x0

It is amazing how much it does help! My oldest keeps me honest and I found my eight year old questioning me earlier as she thought I was going to eat something bad for me. I love it! Thanks, Carrie :)

I love that the changes you're committing to are also influencing the decisions that your kids are making. Because of you, they will grow up with knowledge and an example to follow.
